Joyce and the Law
June 14, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the foundation of FLAC, the Free Legal Advice Centres. FLAC was set up to campaign for access to justice and 50 years on the need for access to justice has not diminished.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, FLAC will be marking Bloomsday by hosting a special lecture on ‘Joyce and the Law’ which will be given by senior counsel, historian and Joycean scholar, Frank Callanan SC.
Frank Callanan SC is the author of The Parnell Split 1890-1 and of TM Healy (1996). He edited Edward Byrne’s Parnell: A Memoir (1991). He has contributed to the Dublin James Joyce Journal and Joyce Studies Annual.
He is interested in Joyce’s Parnellism. He is completing a political and intellectual portrait of the Joyce who left Dublin with Nora Barnacle in October 1906.
The event’s introduction will be by Catriona Crowe.
The event will take place at 8pm on Friday 14th June in FLAC’s office at 85/86 Dorset Street Upper, Dublin 1, D01 P9Y3. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
